Collingwood will enter the 2012 NAB AFL National Draft with four selections inside the top 50 including a run of three selections in the first 25.

The Pies, led by National Recruiting Manager Derek Hine, will enter the National Draft (to be held on 22 November) with selection No. 18 and will quickly follow it with No. 19 and No. 21.

It is the first time Collingwood has had a draft selection in the top 20 since 2008 when it secured Steele Sidebottom with pick No. 11.

Collingwood has not been in possession of pick No. 18 since 1999, when it drafted Rhyce Shaw as a Father-Son selection.

The club has not used selection No. 19 since it signed Jason Cloke under the Father-Son rule in 2000, while it has thrice used selection No. 21, choosing David Robertson (1986), Bo Nixon (2002) and Danny Stanley (2005).

During the October player exchange period, Collingwood secured two draft selections in the top 20 (No. 17 and No. 18).

Premiership pair Chris Dawes (Melbourne) and Sharrod Wellingham (West Coast) were both traded to greener pastures while Quinten Lynch (West Coast) and Clinton Young (Hawthorn) are the two players with senior experience signed by the club during the Free Agency window.

Carlton backman Jordan Russell was secured at the end of October, with Collingwood's draft selection No. 71 shifting to the Blues. The Pies had originally received pick No. 71 from the Western Bulldogs who picked up the Magpies' 2010 VFL Best and Fairest winner Tom Young.
