Pies' membership campaign rated the AFL's best
Collingwood’s 2012 membership campaign has been rated the AFL's best by Sports Business Insider.
The website rated the Magpies’ ‘It’s Us Against Them’ membership campaign the league’s best because it “created a unique rivalry with the rest of the league, playing on their reputation as non-supporters’ most disliked club”.
Collingwood’s 2012 television commercial showed the Magpie players standing arm-in-arm with new senior coach Nathan Buckley with the backing of hundreds of members of the Magpie Army. The group then marches to the MCG as thousands of opposition fans await them, underlining the ‘Us Against Them’ theme.
But while the 2012 season has come to a close, memberships are already available for 2013.
A range of packages exist ensuring that all Collingwood fans are catered for, regardless of whether they are able to attend matches.
Collingwood CEO Gary Pert says that membership is as much about connection to the club as it is about attending games.
“The Collingwood Football Club believes there is far more to club membership than just attending games. It's about feeling connected to the club, wearing the uniform and receiving benefits that non-members can't access,” Pert said in a letter sent to Collingwood members last week.
