COLLINGWOOD chief executive Gary Pert doesn’t expect that the appointment of Mick Malthouse as coach of Carlton would make the Blues more attractive to key forward Travis Cloke.

"No, not at all," Pert told SEN's Morning Glory program when asked if the possible appointment would have any impact on Cloke's thinking.

Malthouse's expected appointment as Carlton coach has bolstered claims that Cloke might be interested in a switch to Visy Park.

Cloke enjoyed success under Malthouse's tenure as Collingwood coach, which ended when Malthouse handed over the reins to Nathan Buckley after last season.

"I think Travis has got a fantastic relationship with Bucks, the players and the entire club," Pert said.

"One of our strongest points is the fact that he's been here so long - he's got such strong relationships across the board.

"That's probably the major factor why he and every other player have taken big financial cuts to keep playing with this playing group.

"We think it (the playing group) has got a greater future for the next three to five years and we want Travis to be part of that."
