He’s already a fan favourite, and now it appears that Jamie Elliott’s endless highlights reel also impresses his fellow teammates.

Already the owner of an AFL Mark of the Year award in 2013, Elliott was comprehensive in leading nominations for both best mark of the season, and best goal in Collingwood Media’s mid-season player poll.

The 22-year-old received 68.4 per cent of votes for best mark and 66.7 per cent for best goal.

Arguably in career-best form, Elliott is already on his way to surpassing the 33 goals he kicked in 2014.

The 25 goals he’s already kicked this year has included hauls of four (round three), five (round eight) and five (round nine).

Elliott’s bag of tricks in front of goal has included everything this year.

There was the drop punt from the boundary on ANZAC Day, the soccer half-volley against the Suns, the third quarter snap against North Melbourne and the cheeky play-on against Heritier Lumumba and Melbourne.

One seemingly jealous teammate described the best goal of the year as “Billy’s from of out bounds” and the best mark as “the one Jamie dropped but was paid a mark”.

Lucky or not, with the amount of effort and intensity Elliott brings, there are bound to be plenty of highlights.

While Elliott received little competition amongst the players, some cast their minds as far as Bendigo when voting.

Rookie Jordan De Goey received multiple nominations for his screamer against Geelong under lights in the VFL at Queen Elizabeth Oval.

With the players refreshed after a week off, there’s no doubt there will be more fireworks in store when the season resumes against Fremantle on Thursday night.
