Former Collingwood rover Brett James has been honoured with induction into the South Australian Football Hall of Fame.

A product of Norwood, James played 42 games for the Magpies between 1994 and 1996 before being traded to Adelaide ahead of the 1997 season.

He went on to play a further 76 games for the Crows, where he was a member of their back-to-back premiership teams in 1997 and 1998.

After a career of 118 AFL games, James was delisted and returned to Norwood for whom he played a total of 234 games across two stints from 1990-1993 and 1997-2006.

He captained the Redlegs between 2002 and 2006, winning the best-and-fairest on three occasions.

James’ brother, Roger, was a premiership player himself, playing a key role in Port Adelaide’s 2004 triumph before rounding out his career on 147 games a year later.

Established in 2002, the South Australian Football Hall of Fame now includes 199 of the state’s finest football players, coaches, umpires and administrators.
