Voting for the Magpie Army Player of the Year Award is underway for 2015.

Collingwood Media looks at the performances of some of the players who were among the best in the Magpies 25-point Queen’s Birthday victory over Melbourne at the MCG.

Collingwood’s top performers

32. Travis Cloke
Statistics: 12 kicks, 0 handballs, 12 disposals, 8 marks, 9 contested possessions, 7 goals.
It didn’t take long for Travis Cloke to announce himself at the MCG on Monday. “I felt free. I just thought ‘stuff it, I’m just going to jump at the ball and have a crack… It was nice to get a few easy goals and get the confidence going,” Cloke told Fox Footy’s ‘On the Couch’ on Monday night. A four-goal first quarter turned into a career-best performance as Cloke marked strongly and took control of Demons fullback Tom McDonald. He finished the game with five contested marks, nine contested possessions and a disposal efficiency of 91.7 per cent.

43. Adam Oxley
Statistics: 24 kicks, 6 handballs, 30 disposals, 14 marks, 86.7% disposal efficiency.
A new role in defence suited Oxley perfectly as he expertly drifted across half-back cutting off Melbourne’s attack. His ability to read the play resulted in 30 disposals and a career-high 14 marks. Most notably, eight of these marks came from opposition kicks. With coach Nathan Buckley describing Oxley’s game as “imperative” to the team’s success, a position as a general in defence may quickly become familiar for the 20-year-old.

4. Brodie Grundy
Statistics: 10 kicks, 10 handballs, 20 disposals, 5 inside 50s, 21 hit outs.
Grundy was left as the sole ruckman in the side on Monday after Jarrod Witts was replaced in the final team by midfielder Ben Kennedy. He managed the role with aplomb, recording 20 disposals and 21 hit outs. Nine of these possessions came in a second term in which saw 10 goals kicked and Melbourne cut back the lead to 14 points. With 12 contested possessions and four clearances, Grundy showed that his ability isn’t limited to the centre bounce.

26. Marley Williams
Statistics: 11 kicks, 13 handballs, 24 disposals, 7 marks, 6 rebound 50s.
Stationed in defence as we’ve become accustomed to seeing, Williams once again brought his ferocious nature to the MCG for this week’s clash with the Demons. While pressure acts and one percenters don’t gain much attention on the statistics list, Williams constantly impressive with his ability to prevent Melbourne’s attack and create a 50-50 contest.
