Down thirty-seven points early in the second quarter, Collingwood put the foot on the pedal and steamrolled Essendon, kicking twelve of the last fifteen goals of the game to win by twenty-three points.

The reason? Mr. D. Swan, his four goals and twenty-six disposals.

Three ANZAC Day classics in a row.

Don’t let anyone tell you that this isn’t the biggest game of the home and away season!

This one was a genuine heart-stopper. The Magpies, still clearing the rust after a slow start to the season, led for much of the day, but appeared destined to be overrun by the fast-finishing Dons.

Enter Jarryd Blair.

The rover found best position at the foot of a pack after Ben Sinclair kicked long to the top of the goal square. Blair kept his feet and threw a leg at the ball, tapping the Sherrin through to give Collingwood a one-point lead with barely a minute left to play.

Note: You’ll also witness Dane Swan at his best. He had forty-two disposals and kicked three goals.

It’s less than twelve months ago, so chances are this come-from-behind win over the Kangaroos is still fresh in your mind.

- It was pouring with rain, yet we still kicked nine goals in the third quarter

Collingwood and drawn finals seem to go hand-in-hand.

And we’re not just talking about the 2010 decider.

Three years earlier, the Magpies took on an undermanned West Coast outfit at Subiaco Oval. The game went right to the wire, with scores locked at 72-apiece.

Extra-time was called in, and Collingwood made the most of it, kicking three goals to nil to run out 19-point victors.
