Collingwood has strengthened its 2020 draft hand in a trade deal that saw defender James Aish move to Fremantle.

Collingwood will receive a future second and fourth round pick from Fremantle (both on traded from St Kilda) in exchange for Aish, pick 69 and the club’s future third round pick.

Taken in the 2013 national draft with pick 7, Aish played 32 games with the Brisbane Lions before joining Collingwood via the 2015 trade period.

The 23-year-old South Australian went on to play a further 50 games over four seasons in the black and white stripes.

Collingwood List Manager Ned Guy thanked Aish for his time at the Holden Centre.

“James has been a popular character at the Holden Centre and someone who has been dedicated to serving his club,” Guy said.

“While we’re sad to see him go, he leaves with our best wishes for his next chapter at Fremantle and we thank him for his contribution over his four seasons at Collingwood.

“We’re pleased to receive a future second and fourth round pick in return for James to add to our long-term draft strategy.”

Collingwood currently holds picks 35, 62 and 74 in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.
