The Collingwood Football Club will be launching a special exhibition next month to commemorate the club's 125^th anniversary – and we need your help.

The display aims to tell the story of the football club through 125 items – '125 Years in 125 Objects'.

And while we have plenty of wonderful items in our own collection to draw upon, we know there are many more out there in the public domain that we would love to have access to for the duration of this display.

There are few limits on what it might be: if it helps to illustrate an important, or fascinating, aspect of the club's history, we'd love to know about it.

It could be an ancient artefact that was used at Victoria Park, like an old boot studder's last, a door in the Social Club or a boardroom table. Or an unusual item from a special match, such as the first ANZAC Day game in 1995 or John Greening's comeback. Or a personal memento given to you by a player that has since taken on greater meaning. Maybe even Jack Thompson's coach's jacket from the movie The Club!

Former players and officials are also asked to think about any items they may have, and whether they could form part of an exhibition like this.

The items could have been commercially available, part of the club, or used by players, coaches or officials. We're particularly interested in items that may not have been seen frequently, or which have come from the 'inner sanctum'.

The only real test is that the item (a) either has a story behind it or helps to tell part of the Collingwood story, and (b) is capable of being displayed. If you're not sure, just contact us and we'll see whether the item is suitable.

'125 Years in 125 Objects' will open late July and planning is already well underway, so please contact us as soon as possible if you think you have anything.
