Collingwood has re-appointed Nathan Buckley as coach for the next two seasons following a review of the club's football department.

The 45-year-old will take his coaching stint at the Magpies into a seventh season.

"I woke up this morning to the news, and was suitably humbled, and a little bit nervous, to be honest," Buckley told a media conference at Magpies headquarters.

"I am prepared to work with the rest of the leadership in the football department to find a better way," he said.

General Manager of Football Geoff Walsh, who conducted the review, is expected to oversee significant changes to the football program.

The decision is an act of faith in Buckley, who began his stint as senior coach in 2012 after signing on with Collingwood in 2009 and spending two seasons as an assistant coach under Mick Malthouse before succeeding him as senior coach.

"He is not perfect, he knows that, we know that," Walsh said of Buckley, praising the coach's willingess to take on board the feedback from the review.
