The airwaves were flooding with talk of the Pies early this week after Collingwood sparked a remarkable turnaround and beat Hawthorn by 18 points at the MCG.

Contrast to many other Magpie-related topics throughout the season, this week radio commentators and our players had only positive words to spread.

Jamie Elliott, Scott Pendlebury and Jeremy Howe were three to share their recollections of what happened at the ‘G on Saturday night.

Jamie Elliott on Triple M

“We got a little bit of a spray at quarter time and I suppose the rest is history.

“The amount of effort we put in the last three quarter, particularly the second half, we had 18 to 22 contributors and that went a long way to getting that win.”

“The belief within the group is really strong. We know what we’re capable of. We’ve just got to bring it for four quarters.”

Scott Pendlebury on Triple M

“If footy’s shown us anything this year, it’s that it’s a game of momentum and we just had to come out aggressive.”

“I spoke to Mum and Dad after the game and they said they considered going back to Sale at half time”

“I think his game on the weekend was another step forward”

Jeremy Howe on SEN 1116

"Clearly we didn't come out firing, and to Hawthorn's credit, they came out and jumped us at the start. Throughout the game we slowly obviously got ourselves together and started playing the way we wanted to.

"At no stage did we ever think we were going to throw the white flag up and concede."

“The boys responded on the weekend and played the way we should have played the first nine rounds.”
