Collingwood’s win over Essendon on ANZAC Day was an impressive effort in many ways.
Here are a few key facts and figures that caught our eye after the victory.
* The Pies are in the top eight for the first time since round 15, 2015. The effort has ended a club record run of 56 rounds outside the finals places. Collingwood’s previous worst run outside the top eight was a 45-game streak between round one, 2004 and round two, 2006.
* Adam Treloar became the 15th Collingwood player to win the ANZAC Medal. Treloar actually received the three Brownlow Medal votes after last year’s game, which Essendon won by 18 points, but Joe Daniher was awarded the medal on the day.
* Steele Sidebottom, who finished second in the ANZAC Medal voting, became just the seventh player to finish a post-1995 ANZAC Day game with 20+ disposals and three or more goals. Sidebottom has now kicked 14 goals in ANZAC Day games.
* Essendon’s final score of 7.10 (52) was its third-lowest score in Anzac Day games played since 1995. The Bombers lowest score of 33 points was recorded back in 2002.
