Adam Treloar is probably one of the most eager characters you’ll find on Collingwood’s list at the moment.

The star midfielder is four weeks into recovery from hamstring surgery, and is already anticipating his return to the field.

He’s lifting heavy in the gym, running hard at training, and taking sneaky shots at goal when no one’s looking.

He’s also not phased which direction his path back to the senior team takes.

“I just want to play anything,” Treloar told co-host Mark Allen on Collingwood Media podcast ‘Sports Galore’.

“Just get me back out there, I really don’t care.

“I’d play in the VAFA. I’d play in the EFL for my old team Noble Park!”

Adam Treloar lining up for Noble Park. Could it happen again?

While a local-league return is most definitely out of the question, Treloar assumes he will line up for the VFL Magpies before hopefully entering Collingwood’s AFL team late in the season.

These thoughts were brought to the surface after watching Jamie Elliott, Alex Fasolo, James Aish and Jarryd Blair return through the VFL against Essendon last weekend.

“I’m going to be in that same situation a few rounds down the track,” Treloar said.

“Ben Reid is going to be there too, as is Tyson Goldsack.

“I’m being very ambitious when I say this – you’ll have to ask the physios and the doctors – but I’m telling you, I’ll be back in round 22 or round 23.”

Each step taken into rehab is a relatively new experience for Treloar as he deals with the first major break from playing time in his 135-game career.

Before this season the former GWS Giant had missed just 10 games in six years. Every single one of those games was a loss. During this stint, the Magpies have won three of four games without him in the side.

“I just wish I was part of that song,” he said.

“I watch on with pride when we’re going well, but when we’re not going well, I’m pulling out my hair wishing I was out there.

“That’s the life of being in rehab.”
