Collingwood midfielder Jordan De Goey has put pen to paper on a new deal that will see the 22 year-old remain at the Holden Centre until at least the end of the 2020 season.

De Goey, who is enjoying his best AFL campaign, was due to come out of contract at the end of the current season. He has signed a two-year extension.

Selected by Collingwood with pick five in the 2014 national draft, De Goey has played 60 of a possible 79 matches, kicked 53 goals and established himself as one of the most imposing young midfielder / forwards in the competition.

His commitment to Collingwood is the latest in a string of recent signings. The likes of Brayden Sier, Jaidyn Stephenson, Matthew Scharenberg, James Aish, Ben Reid, Nathan Murphy, Callum Brown, Tyler Brown and Max Lynch have all agreed to new contracts of late.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to remain at Collingwood and grateful to the people who have helped me find my way,” De Goey said.

“I’m happy to have a club and some fantastic people around me that I can rely on, trust and enjoy life with. And there is clearly something building at Collingwood that I want to share in.

“The interest from elsewhere was flattering and I hope I dealt with those enquiries respectfully.

“I’ll now continue to push to improve, to get the best out of myself and those around me.”

Collingwood List Manager, Ned Guy, said as De Goey enters his prime years he stands to become an influential figure at Collingwood on and off the field.

“‘Jordy’ wants to be as good as he can possibly be. He said a number of times in the discussions we had over his new contract that he wants to keep improving and making the right calls, to take on more responsibility,” Guy said.

“It’s obviously pleasing and rewarding for a lot of people at Collingwood who have invested a great deal in ‘Jordy’ that he wants to realise his ambitions at Collingwood, which he sees as his football home.”
