Collingwood’s journey towards the opening match of the AFL Women’s season will kick up another gear when it meets the Western Bulldogs in a practice match on Australia Day.
The match will be the team’s first outing against another AFLW outfit.
Played at the Holden Centre, the game will begin at 6.30pm, and all supporters can make their way to the ground to find out how the team is progressing ahead of its season opener against Carlton on 3 February.

Women’s Football Operations Manager Meg Hutchins told Collingwood Media the team is well prepared for the match given its training program in recent weeks.
“Since Christmas, we’ve been focused on game situations and game simulations. We’re not too far away from round one now so it’s definitely transitioned into match play and game situations to get them as prepared as possible,” Hutchins said.

“We are all familiar with how each other plays and what our strengths and weaknesses are, but nothing really prepares you for a game until you play one and learn more about each other.
“The Bulldogs game is going to be really important. We expect it to be played at a really high intensity and a lot of pressure.
“We have a lot of respect for the Bulldogs’ list and their coaching group, so we would expect nothing but that from them and we’re looking forward to challenging ourselves.”
Please note: the Glasshouse Eatery will not be open during the practice match. Toilet access inside the Glasshouse will be available until 7.30pm. After this time, there is a public toilet located around the oval or alternatively at Gosch’s Paddock next to AAMI Park.
