The Tigers started the season with a come-from-behind win over Carlton, then went down to Adelaide in round two. Since then, they've been impressive winners over Hawthorn, the Brisbane Lions and Melbourne. They now boast a 4-1 win-loss record and sit on top of the ladder for the first time since round 12, 1995. They have also won 11 games on the trot at the MCG.

What they're saying
Tigers coach Damien Hardwick held a press conference on Friday morning and was keen to pump up Sunday's game, which will be the first time the clubs have faced off with both sitting in the top eight since round four, 2013, and as top-five sides since round six, 1985. "Every year is a formidable contest, (and) they're a terrific side and the way they're playing this year is fantastic," Hardwick said. "They're a real form side of the competition."

Injury list
Josh Caddy (hamstring) and Nick Vlasuin (calf) missed the win over Melbourne due to minor soft-tissue niggles but have been ruled fit to take on the Pies. Daniel Rioli (foot) remains a few weeks away from returning to the AFL side, while Jack Graham is back after serving a one-match suspension.

Players to watch
Kane Lambert (29 disposals, two goals) was sensational in the ANZAC Eve win over Melbourne. He was awarded a perfect 10 in the coaches' votes after the game. Youngster Jack Higgins turned some heads by kicking three goals against the Demons, but such is the Tigers' depth he might not get a game this weekend. "I can't guarantee (Jack's spot) unfortunately at the moment, we've got some really good players that were unavailable last week that have become available," Hardwick said on Friday. "Jack played really well last week, as did a number of other players, so there's going to be some unfortunate guys that are going to miss out. But that's the nature of the business, and they understand that."

Match report excerpt: TRENT Cotchin has produced an outstanding captain's game to lead Richmond to a 19-point win over Collingwood at the MCG on Thursday night.

Cotchin had 26 possessions, kicked two goals and laid two crucial tackles in the last quarter as the Tigers won 14.15 (99) to 11.14 (80).

It is only the third time since 1995 that the Tigers have won their opening two games of the season.

The last time was 2013, when they returned to the finals.

Collingwood only had itself to blame - for the second week in a row the Pies paid dearly for goalkicking inaccuracy.

It is the first time they have made a 0-2 start to the season since 2005 and in Nathan Buckley's time as coach.
