A further five of Collingwood’s AFLW playing list, including 2019 leading goal kicker Sarah D’Arcy, have re-committed for next season.
D’Arcy signed on the dotted line along with Sophie Casey and 2018 draftees Maddie Shevlin, Katie Lynch, Georgia Gourlay.
The news follows the re-signing of 12 players over the previous week. The five additions mean that 17 of the Pies’ squad for 2020 are in place.
Foundation player D’Arcy will clock up her fourth season in the black and white next year. The half-forward’s strong endurance was crucial to Collingwood’s attack in 2019 where she set club season records for the most number of marks (28) and contested marks (6).
Casey will also play her fourth season for the Pies. The 27-year-old’s physicality is a mainstay of the Collingwood mid-field, as is her experience and poise.
Lynch, Shevlin and Gourlay all debuted in 2019 and stand to be central to the club’s draft-led strategy of building a squad that can grow and emerge and together and offer the prospect of sustainable long term success.
