Collingwood will be sweating on scans for Taylor Adams after the gun midfielder limped off with an adductor strain during the Pies' 39-point win over Port Adelaide on Friday night.

Adams hurt his groin while running for the ball midway through the third term.

He immediately came from the field and went down to the rooms for treatment. The 25-year-old came back to the bench and attempted to run on the sidelines before he was eventually ruled out for the remainder of the match.

Coach Nathan Buckley said the club was unsure how much footy Adams would miss.

"He wasn't able to complete the game so that's a red flag straight away, but we'll let that settle and see how it pans out.

"But it's an adductor strain at this point. How serious or otherwise we don't know.

"Tay's disappointed. He was standing in the middle, but as we saw tonight what was going around him puts it in perspective pretty quickly."

Buckley said the inspiration of five-year-old Kyron Maguire, a terminally ill Magpies supporter who ran through the banner and was chaired off by the players after spending time at the club this week, was emotional for both he and his players.

"It actually makes the game less significant doesn't it? We are playing a game of footy and we all take it really seriously and we spend a lot of time on it.

"But to have Kyron and his family in and to the share the last couple of days with them and the experience, and the way our boys handled it after the game, was amazing really and quite emotional.

"That's real life and it was good to put a smile on the young fella's face."
