Collingwood's VFL team came from behind to claim its first win since round one against Box Hill.
Josh Daicos starred with 34 disposals as the Magpies snapped their five-game losing streak.
Alex Woodward was his usual prolific self with 28 disposals, while Isaac Quaynor was hugely impressive with 26 from half-back.
It looked as though it would be another case of so near, but so far for the Pies midway through the third term.
The Pies had battled well to that point but struggled to find avenues to goal. Jackson Ross' goal at the 16-minute mark of the third quarter put the Hawks 18 points ahead.
But the Pies rallied to rattle off the next six goals of the match and finished with eight of the last ten.
Sam Glover started the comeback. He moved forward after a leg injury to Will Kelly and booted two goals towards the end of the third term to bring the Pies within striking distance.
Collingwood brought the margin back to one point at three-quarter time, before finishing with five majors against the breeze in the last quarter to claim victory.
