Collingwood suffered a heartbreaking loss to Northern Blues at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon.
Red-time goals to Jesse Palmer and Patrick Kerr saw the Blues prevail in a see-sawing contest.
Neither side was able to create a buffer, with the margin remaining within two goals for almost the entirety of the match.
Tim Broomhead looked dangerous up forward, booting three goals for the Pies – including two in the final term. Daniel Wells also impressed with two goals of his own and contributing plenty of score assists.
Alex Woodward and Rupert Wills were both excellent through the middle for the Pies, with each collecting more than 30 disposals.
The result sees the Magpies fall to 1-2 before next week’s trip to face an in-form Essendon.
