An outstanding season by speedy midfielder Jaimee Lambert has seen her crowned as Collingwood’s 2019 AFL Women’s best and fairest on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old impressed with her best season yet, producing three goals and averaging 15 disposals across the season’s seven games.
Lambert had 68 contested possessions and the highest number of clearances for the team (30).
The former Western Bulldog joined the Pies at the end of the 2017 season and has impressed in her first two years having also received the inaugural VFLW Best and Fairest award in October last year.
In her maiden win, Lambert polled an AFLW club record with 69 votes, ahead of cross-code half-back Ash Brazill (60) and midfielder Britt Bonnici (48).
In her second season of the sport, vice co-captain Ash Brazill was voted by her teammates as the players' player this season.
A dominant force in the backline, Brazill averaged 18 disposals per game, while totalling 60 intercept possessions across the season – the second highest in the league.
The Collingwood duo, Lambert and Brazill, were both recognised for their impressive performances across the season being selected in the All-Australian squad with Brazill named as one of the 21 team last Tuesday.
Fierce midfielder, Britt Bonnici took 44 tackles over the season, an 83 per cent increase on last year.
Irish recruit, Sarah Rowe topped off her debut season being awarded the team’s best first year player.
The forward managed two goals and had a total of 52 kicks throughout 2019.
Leading goal kicker, Sarah D’Arcy doubled her 2018 goal tally by kicking four goals - two of which contributed to the Pies victory over the Lions in round seven.
