GREATER Western Sydney has kickstarted its season with a comprehensive 52-point win over Collingwood at Engie Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
In the second and final match of Opening round, the Giants proved far too good for an inaccurate Magpies outfit as they cruised to the 15.14 (104) to 6.16 (52) victory.
A six-goal opening term saw the Giants take a 21-point lead into the main break, before Collingwood hit back with three quick goals to kickstart the second term to rein the margin back in.
But it's where the fightback stopped, with Collingwood kicking just two more goals for the match as the Giants took control to get their season off to a flyer.
For the Pies, Brody Mihocek and Jamie Elliott both kicked two majors, while Club debutant Harry Perryman impressed with 27 disposals.
Darcy Cameron stood tall all day, gathering 22 disposals (19 contested), 37 hit-outs, seven marks, and seven inside 50s.
Collingwood defender Jeremy Howe underwent a head injury assessment (HIA) and passed after copping a knock during the second term, while young superstar Nick Daicos battled cramp throughout the second half of the contest.
