Collingwood's Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade has provided an injury and health update ahead of Collingwood’s Opening Round clash against the GWS GIANTS at ENGIE Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Available this week:

Brayden Maynard

After experiencing soreness following the Club’s match simulation in Gold Coast, Brayden Maynard was managed for the practice match against Richmond.

The defender has resumed full training this week and is available for Opening Round.

Other updates:

Joel Cochran

Joel Cochran suffered a knock to his ribs during training and has had a slight delay in his return to play as he recovers from illness over the weekend.

The new recruit will need to undergo a full week of training before returning to footy, meaning the defender will not be available for this weekend’s VFL match.

Mason Cox

Mason Cox is progressing well in his recovery following a finger fracture.

The ruck has maintained his gym and running loads over the past two weeks and is close to a return to full training.

The 33-year-old will need to tick off some boxes to be available for Round One.

Jordan De Goey

Jordan De Goey will not be available for this week’s Opening Round clash against the GWS GIANTS.

De Goey experienced a setback in pre-season (knee bruising) that required a de-load period.

The midfielder has completed a three-week period of full team and contact training. The 28-year-old is expected to be available in Rounds One or Two.

Tom Mitchell

Tom Mitchell is progressing well as he recovers from a bone stress injury in his foot.

The 31-year-old returned to full training two weeks ago, with a focus on building his loads and conditioning.

The Club will continue to assess the midfielder's progress before determining a return timeframe.

Illiro Smit

Illiro Smit is progressing well after he suffered a direct knock to the throat during training about a month ago, causing a fracture to his larynx.

The 19-year-old has been introduced to non-contact drills and will remain in a modified training program for the next two to three weeks.

Oscar Steene

Oscar Steene fractured his finger during training last week.

The ruck will be limited during the early rounds of the season as he spends three weeks in a splint and non-contact training.

Harvey Harrison

Harvey Harrison continues to work on his individual rehab program in the gym and on the field as he returns from the ACL surgery he had last year.
