Collingwood is pleased to announce AFLW defender Lucy Cronin has signed a two-year contract extension with the Pies.

Whilst already contracted for the 2025 season, a further two-year deal will see Cronin remain a Magpie until at least the end of 2027.

The 19-year-old was drafted to Collingwood at pick nine in the 2023 AFLW Draft and made her AFLW debut in Collingwood’s 2024 season opener clash against Sydney.

The Kew local was featured in all the Pies’ home-and-away games this season, earning a Telstra AFLW Rising Star nomination for her efforts in Week Four against the Western Bulldogs. The defender had a team-high of 20 disposables, seven marks and 511m gained.

Adding another accolade to a growing list of individual honours, Cronin was today announced in the AFLW’s 22under22 team.

The first year-player had an incredible season, averaging 10.9 disposals, with a total of five clearances and 22 tackles across her 11 games.

“I am delighted to be named in the 22under22 team – I couldn’t believe it at first. To also be the only one from my draft year is awesome,” Cronin shares.

“I’ve developed over the season and have been given some amazing opportunities. I have tried to learn as much as I can.

“I’m super pumped to be sticking around for a few more years and to know that I’m a part of a team that’s building constantly. I can’t wait for the future.”

Collingwood’s General Manager of Women’s Football Jess Burger said she was pleased with Cronin’s commitment to the Club and proud of her recent achievement.

“We couldn’t be happier to see Lucy recommit with our Club for a further two seasons,” Burger said.

“Being in her first season in an elite sporting Club, the growth in her game has been an incredible journey to watch.

“I am also proud of her efforts to see her in the AFLW’s 22under22 team and playing a key role this season.

“We look forward to supporting Lucy as a Collingwood AFLW person both on and off the field and cannot wait to see her game go to another level in years to come."
