Collingwood welcomes defender Harry Perryman who has today signed with the Club on the opening day of the AFL Free Agency Period.
The 25-year-old has secured a six-year deal that will see him in the black and white stripes until the end of 2030. Perryman, who grew up supporting Collingwood, joins the Pies after 129 games for the Greater Western Sydney Giants.
Hailing from the small Riverina town of Collingullie in country New South Wales, the 25-year-old was drafted to the Giants with pick 14 in the 2016 AFL Draft and went on to make his debut in Round Nine 2017 against Richmond.
Spending most of his time at half-back, Perryman offers versatility across the field and has a total of 28 goals to his name. Playing 21 games in 2024, he averaged 18 disposals and collected a total of 59 tackles.
Perryman was named third in the Giants’ Best and Fairest in 2020 and has also served as a member of the Giants’ leadership group over the past two seasons.
He will become the seventh player to play for both the Giants and Collingwood, following in the footsteps of Will Hoskin-Elliott, Heath Shaw and Bobby Hill.
Perryman thanked the Giants for the past eight seasons.
“I’d like to thank the GWS Giants for presenting me with my first AFL opportunity,” Perryman said.
“I will always remember my time at Sydney Olympic Park, and to the players and staff, I am so grateful for the friendships I formed along the eight-year journey.
“Collingwood is the right place for me to progress my football journey and I look forward to meeting the boys and the rest of the program.
“There’s also something special about having the opportunity to play for the team you grew up supporting. I can’t wait to get started.”
Collingwood Head of Football Strategy, Innovation and List Management Justin Leppitsch welcomed Perryman.
“We’re pleased to welcome Harry to Collingwood,” Leppitsch said.
“Harry’s talent and craft makes him an exciting asset for our football program. He offers versatility across the field, and has the opportunity to play multiple roles.
“We look forward to seeing where he can take his football in our environment and are confident he can .”
The AFL Free Agency Period will end on Friday, October 11, with the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period to commence next Monday, October 7, until Wednesday, October 16.
