Collingwood AFLW forward Nell Morris-Dalton will be placed on the Inactive List for the 2024 season as she recovers from a lumbar stress fracture in her back.

Morris-Dalton arrived at the Pies through the 2023 AFLW Trade Period and was the leading goal kicker, with eight goals, across 10 performances in her first season in the black and white.

“This is tough news for Nell, who’s shown tremendous growth to date and had put a huge body of work together over the off season,” Collingwood General Manager of Women’s Football Jess Burger said.

“Whilst the initial disappointment is still very real, Nell is committed to playing an off-field role within the team demonstrating her true strength as a Collingwood AFLW person.”

“Our program will wrap our arms around Nell during this time. Our medical, coaching staff, and players will all play a role in supporting her through her recovery.”

Morris-Dalton, together with the Club, will consult with medical specialists before determining next steps.

In other news, Collingwood VFLW player Carly Remmos has been elevated to the AFLW list as a replacement player for Morris-Dalton.

Remmos joined Collingwood’s VFLW program this year after spending two seasons on Geelong’s AFLW list (2021-22). Remmos capped off an impressive VFLW season with the Club finishing runner up in the best and fairest from only seven games played.

“With injury comes opportunity, and we are delighted to elevate Carly to our senior list,” Burger said.

“Since coming out of the AFLW system, Carly has shown an enormous hunger to find her way back onto an AFLW list. Her determination, work rate and ability to invest in her own growth as both a person and player has continued to impress us.”

Collingwood AFLW Senior Coach Sam Wright announced the news to the playing group. Vision of this can be found here.
