Collingwood has announced its 2024 VFLW leadership group, with four new players taking the reins.

Former Essendon AFLW-listed player Meg Ryan will lead the side as Captain in her first year at the Club.

Originally from Ireland, the tough and tall Ryan has spent numerous years in the system both in the SANFL and VFLW and will be a significant asset on field.

Assisting Ryan as Vice-Captain will be AFLW foundation player Jordan Ivey.

Having spent time at Carlton, Geelong, and most recently Melbourne, the former Cats AFLW Vice-captain will provide class and poise for the new-look side.

Rounding out the leadership group is Sachi Degiacomi and Alessia Francese.

Degiacomi was a member of Geelong’s VFLW squad last season and has 37 career games to her name.

The classy forward is versatile on field and will be a great leader in the attacking half, while Francese is a strong leader who has joined the list from the Box Hill Hawks.

New coach Tom Cashin will look to lead the side back to the Grand Final in 2024, after the squad fell just short in the decider last season, with the first-year coach saying his quartet of leaders would be crucial to doing so.

"All four leaders will add great value to our side. Meg is someone that throws herself at each opportunity to not only grow her game, but to lead and help anyone she can," he said.

"Jordi makes all in her space walk taller and be better. Her experience and knowledge of the game is like having an on-field coach to work with.

"Sachi is an experienced VFLW footballer with leadership on her CV already, while Alessia's voice and encouragement has driven standards from the get-go."

The side’s first game will come on Friday March 22 against the Southern Saints at RSEA Park.
