His shutdown performance on dual Brownlow winner Adam Goodes on Saturday night saw Collingwood’s Simon Prestigiacomo poll a match-high eight votes in the AFL Coaches Association (AFLCA) Champion Player of the Year.??

The veteran defender held Goodes scoreless for the first time this year and restricted the premiership player to a season-low 13 disposals (had 13 disposals in round 10 but also registered six scoring shots including one goal).??

Coming off a bye weekend didn’t hamper Dane Swan’s form, the two-time Copeland Trophy winner polled seven votes and now moves seven votes shy of AFL leader Luke Hodge.

Midfielder Luke Ball's work around the stoppages (nine clearances) was noticed by both head coaches as he polled four votes to move into second place on the club leader board.??

Other Magpies to poll votes included Heath Shaw (5) Dale Thomas (3), and Scott Pendlebury (2) while Sydney’s Nick Malceski (1) was the only Swan to feature in the voting.??

In the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year, head coaches vote each week on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis. Coaches vote only on their own matches, but may vote for players on the opposing team.

Past winners of the prestigious award include Gary Ablett Jnr (2007-09), Simon Goodwin and Adam Goodes (joint winners in 2006), Barry Hall (2005) and Warren Tredrea (2004).
