Chloe Molloy will strap on the boots for the first time in eight months when she makes her return to the field with Collingwood’s VFLW side this Saturday.
The 20-year-old injured the lisfranc ligament in her left foot in the Pies’ VFLW preliminary final against Geelong last year.
The injury saw her sidelined for the entire 2019 AFLW season.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, but I’m just super excited to finally get back out there,” Molloy told collingwoodfc.com.au.
Playing all seven games in her AFLW debut season, Molloy starred down back but also spent some time up forward.
That same year, she went on to be crowned the club’s AFLW Best and Fairest as well as the NAB AFLW Rising Star.
“It’s been truly agonising watching so many games from the sidelines this year,” Molloy admitted.
“But I’ve done everything I can to prepare myself and I’ve progressed really well.”
Working alongside the club’s VFLW team, Molloy said she shares a special bond with this particular group who have helped her through her rehabilitation program as well as her return to full training.
“Missing all games and training sessions for AFLW, coming back to work with the VFLW team has been an awesome experience.
“It’s really refreshing to be around a group of girls who ask a lot of questions as they just want to learn and get better.”
Coming off back-to-back wins, the VFLW Magpies will hope to continue their winning streak when they arrive at Victoria Park to face the NT Thunder on Saturday afternoon.
“There’s a lot of confidence in the group and intensity is lifting every week, especially having the AFLW players there to set a high standard.
“Of course, there’s a lot of work to be done come game day.
“But for me, Saturday could not come any quicker!”
