Adam Treloar has probably signed his autograph thousands of times.
He wouldn’t be alone either, with footballers often stopped after training on in the streets by fans eager to meet their favourite players.
However Collingwood rookie Mitch McCarthy is clearly still getting used to being stopped for a signature.
During a recent signing session after training at the Holden Centre, the former basketballer accidently gave a young fan an autograph in surprising fashion.
And of course, his older and slightly more experienced teammate Treloar was more than happy to share the story.
“Everyone was walking around signing people’s shirts,” Treloar told Mark Allen on Collingwood Media vodcast Sports Galore.
“Mitchy is very new to it and not used to people wanting autographs.”

According to Treloar, McCarthy was kindly approached by a young fan who pointed to the front of the guernsey he was wearing and asked for a signature. The 19-year-old rookie happily obliged, despite a slight misunderstanding.
“He (McCarthy) thinks the kid said ‘can you sign my chest’, so he’s pulled the shirt up, signed the chest of the kid and then walked off.
“That poor kid would have been thinking ‘what have you just done to me!’.
The mishap didn’t go unnoticed by McCarthy’s Magpie teammates and will no doubt be a source of good-natured teasing for a long time into the future.

Joking aside, McCarthy has taken strong footsteps since arriving at the Holden Centre with pick seven in the 2016 Rookie Draft.
The ruckman/tall utility has been honing his craft alongside Brodie Grundy and Mason Cox in the middle of the ground, while also providing value in the forward line of Collingwood’s VFL side.
He displayed signs of promise with three goals for the VFL Magpies in a practice match against Footscray on Friday 24 March.
Treloar’s inside story on McCarthy came on an episode of Sports Galore which looked at secrets being revealed and leaked from inside different sporting organisations around the world.
