The Collingwood Football Club has once again partnered with Jason Bedding for the annual 'Bring a Blanket Day'.

In its sixth year, the appeal encourages all Pies supporters to donate new or clean blankets, or money, towards a blanket to the Salvation Army at the MCG on Saturday.

If you aren't at the match fans can also support Bring a Blanket Day throughout the week by donating online by clicking here.

Since the inception of Bring a Blanket Day in 2006, more than 30,000 blankets have been given to homeless Victorians by the Salvation Army, thanks to the generous support of football fans.

Jason Bedding has again pledged this year to donate 150 blankets each week across the entire winter period towards the appeal. Collingwood players continue to work with the Salvation Army distributing the blankets to those in need each year.

Remember, you can support in three ways:
1. Bring a new or clean blanket to the MCG this Saturday 21 July for the Pies v Hawks blockbuster match and deposit it in the specially marked Salvos bins outside Gates 1, 3, 5 and 6.
2. Donate $10 to the Salvo officers outside the gates this Saturday which will in turn provide a new blanket to a homeless person.
3. Buy a $10 'digital blanket' online by clicking here.

Homelessness in Australia:
·         More than 100,000 Australians will be homeless tonight
·         Half of those will be under 24 years old and 10,000 will be children
·         The waiting list for public housing is 16 years
·         For people at extreme risk, waiting time is 12 - 18 months

Victoria: Nationally, 19 per cent of the homeless were in SAAP (Supported Accommodation Assistance Program) accommodation on census night in 2006 but in Victoria it was 31 per cent. 63 per cent of the homeless in Victoria were aged 34 or younger, compared with the national figure of 58 per cent.
