Collingwood has named a host of AFL-listed players in its VFL team to take on Essendon in an elimination final at North Port Oval on Sunday.
Jack Madgen and Adam Oxley, who were part of the AFL side that defeated Fremantle in the final round of home and away matches, will get some extra match-practice in the VFL.
Flynn Appleby, Josh Smith, Josh Daicos and Sam McLarty, who were emergencies for the clash with the Dockers, will also get the chance to put their hands up for a spot in the AFL team to play West Coast in a qualifying final at Optus Stadium on September 8.
Tyson Goldsack will continue his remarkable recovery from the serious knee injury he suffered during the pre-season.
Goldsack was solid in his return match last weekend and will look to increase his output on Sunday.
The winner of this match will face the loser of the first qualifying final between Richmond and Williamstown, while the loser will end their 2018 campaign.
Sunday's match will be broadcast live on Channel Seven.
The VFL Magpies have featured in each of the past five VFL finals series, and reached preliminary finals in 2009 and 2016.
Collingwood will enter the VFL finals series full of running, having won six of its past seven games.
