Midfielder Dale Thomas is expected to play in Saturday night's match against Geelong after suffering bruising in his ankle.

The 25-year-old left the field during the third quarter of Collingwood's 23-point loss to Carlton on Saturday night but later returned and played out the game.

Collingwood's Director of Football Geoff Walsh said that Thomas is expected to be ready to take on the Cats next week.

"Daisy just has some bruising in the ankle. He wore a moon boot as a precaution.

"We would expect him to come up next week."
