In celebration of 2023 National NAIDOC Week and in support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent, the Collingwood Football Club is calling attention to the importance of music and the arts to First Nation’s people.

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture, the arts are central to identity, spirituality and belonging.

Music and song in particular, are an expression of tradition and are vital to the transmission and survival of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through generations.

Aboriginal art uses symbols, sounds, and other icons to showcase knowledge of the land, events, belief, relationship to Country and above all else, connects First Nations people to their ancestors.

These musical traditions are unique and ongoing which denotes the importance of promoting First Nations artists and music in any way possible.

The Collingwood Football Club has an ongoing commitment to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities through partnerships and various programs.

This NAIDOC Week, the Club would like to highlight the significance and beauty of Aboriginal art through a 10-song playlist curated by Collingwood Captain and resident music man, Darcy Moore.

The playlist is compiled of songs (in no particular order) written and sung only by First Nations artists and musicians.

If you’ve ever wondered what Darcy Moore is listening to this week, this is it.
