There’s a number of different ways to get noticed by your coach.

Tackling pressure is one. Getting your teammates involved in another. And kicking ten goals in two games is also probably worthy of a pat on the back.

Jamie Elliott receives ticks in all three of these departments in 2015. He ranks second at the club in score assists while also sitting in the top ten in tackles and forward 50 tackles.

His impressive start to the year was most evident in his five-goal performance against North Melbourne on Sunday at the MCG.

The livewire forward had 18 disposals, seven marks, four inside 50s and three clearances in addition to his bag of goals.

The performance was enough for both Nathan Buckley and Brad Scott to award Elliott maximum votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.

While the 22-year-old constantly finds a place in the match highlights for his spectacular marking ability, the substance of Elliott’s performance in 2015 has impressed the football community.

His previous five-goal haul against the Gold Coast Suns in round eight saw him awarded four votes from the respective coaches.

He now moves to a season tally of 14 votes, the fourth most at the club, yet still 26 votes behind breakaway leader Scott Pendlebury.

The match against North Melbourne marked just the second time this season that Pendlebury hasn’t received AFLCA award votes.

Dane Swan (6), Steele Sidebottom (5) and Marley Williams (1) were the other players to be recognised for the Sunday afternoon clash. North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein received seven votes while veteran Brent Harvey also polled a single vote.

After nine rounds the gap between Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe and the rest of the competition continues to grow.

After another perfect 10 against Adelaide, Fyfe is now a staggering 28 votes ahead of second placed Dan Hannebery.
