Dale Thomas' manager Paul Connors met with Collingwood on Thursday as his client's football future nears resolution.

Thomas will sit down with Connors early on Friday morning to discuss the detail of Thursday's meeting.

The out-of-contract star has been linked heavily with a move to Carlton, with some saying it is a foregone conclusion.

But Thomas denied the Blues had put a formal offer to him and his management.

He admitted Collingwood's mid-year offer had changed substantially after his long-term ankle injury, but the 26-year-old said he had been given the all clear by a number of medical specialists.

"The ankle is as clear as day," Thomas said. "It's as close to perfect as it's been in a long time."

The 26-year-old could have signed with the Magpies during the year but decided to delay talks until the end of the year.

The Blues are likely to table a significant offer once the free agency period begins on October 7.

Under free agency, Collingwood would then have three days to match the Blues' offer or watch Thomas walk to their arch-rival.
