It was another stunning evening for our lads who attended the Brownlow Medal this year.
As always, Steele Sidebottom and partner Alisha were looking their best.
In his first game for Collingwood, Patrick Lipinski polled three votes for his fantastic performance against St Kilda. Jordan De Goey with two votes. Here from Pat after his round one performance:
Jack Crisp polled his first votes of the night in round two against Adelaide. Our star midfielder had 26 disposals and 10 tackles for the afternoon. His midfield companion Jordan De Goey was again in the votes, earning a single vote for his 25 disposals and a goal.
It didn't take long for Nick Daicos to poll his first career Brownlow Medal votes. Three votes for his performance in round four kick started what would be a special night for Nick. `
Once round six rolled around, it was one name we were all waiting for. Five goals on ANZAC Day debut for Jack Ginnivan was enough for the ANZAC Day medal and three Brownlow votes. An afternoon to remember for the kid from Castlemaine. Enjoy a flashback to his player of the match performance here:
Round seven had Jack Crisp poll a couple more votes, accompanied by Patrick Lipinski who snagged a single vote in the win over the Suns.
After a couple of rounds that didn't go our way, we looked forward to the start of the streak. Jack Crisp was brilliant in Round 10 against Fremantle earning himself another three votes. Oliver Henry earned his first Brownlow vote of his career with his super sub four goals to help the Pies win in the west.
Crisp backed up his round 10 performance with another two votes, putting him into the top 6 leaderboard!
In round 12 we got to celebrate the first career votes for Darcy Cameron! Cameron earned three votes for his epic performance in the ruck against Hawthorn. His 26 disposals, 19 hit-outs, six intercepts and six clearances helped the Pies get a hard fought four points.
Round 13 was just as fun. On the Queen's Birthday, Brody Mihocek played one of his best career games. Four goals and 16 disposals proved his ability to be one of the better key forwards of the competition.
At the half way point of the season the standings stood at:
- Jack Crisp (11)
- Jordan De Goey (7)
- Darcy Cameron (4)
- Patrick Lipinski (4)
- Nick Daicos (4)
It was round 15 where we got to celebrate Steele Sidebottom. Another season of consistent high performance, Sidebottom took his career Brownlow vote tally to 98 with three votes against the Giants.
The rest of the season was dominated by Nick Daicos.
In his first year, Nick found another six votes between rounds 16 and 18. A 37 disposal performance against the Suns in round 16 was outstanding, but it was round 18 where he took his game to another level.
Nick amassed an incredible 40 disposals, kicked three goals, had a whopping 747 meters gained, 10 intercepts and still managed 82.5% disposal efficiency despite the wet weather. No other player who had more than 20 disposals went higher than 58.6% disposal efficiency that day. A well deserved three votes to take his total tally to 11.
The final three vote performance of the year was earned by Jordan De Goey for his performance against Port Adelaide. His 23 disposals and two goals were crucial in ensuring the Pies continued their winning streak on to a tenth game.
In what was a dramatic end to the night, we were able to celebrate Nick Daicos for coming equal first for Collingwood in his debut season, just two short of the club record of 13 set by Des Fothergill in 1937.
Here's how the leaderboard ended up:
