To our members and supporters,
It’s been brilliant to see the Magpie Army filling stadiums this season and enjoying being back at the football after a challenging couple of years.
We couldn’t be prouder of the way our AFL team is progressing – and what a game in Round 23 – the smallest of wins against the biggest of rivals to secure fourth spot leading into the finals.
And how good it was to back up with another win against Carlton by our AFLW team in the opening game of Season Seven.
If there is something we’ve learnt from 2022, it’s that we will keep fighting until the final siren and the Magpie Army will show up in force and show their absolute support and fight with us.
Our members and supporters have been brilliant, as always.
You have showed up, week in, week out – and today we are pleased to announce and celebrate reaching 100,000 members for the first time in the history of this great club.
That is testament to the loyalty of Collingwood fans who have ranked our club as the most attended in the AFL competition and the most viewed on television.
A sincere thank you to each and every person who has signed up as a Collingwood member in 2022. We are enormously grateful for the support especially given the challenges presented to all of us with the pandemic over the last couple of years.
As the senior men’s side prepare for their first final against Geelong this week, we look forward to seeing the Magpie Army out in force at the MCG for what shapes up to be a cracking contest.
It has been a strong season so far for our men’s program which finished the home-and-away season in fourth place, and rest assured, we will continue to do all we can to repay your faith to our Club.
We also couldn’t be prouder of the commitment from our AFL Women’s athletes who have been putting in the hard yards over their pre-season which started in June, and it was great to see a brilliant season opener and another win against our arch-rival in Carlton. Congratulations to Jaimee Lambert, a two-time All Australian and three-time Club Best & Fairest winner, who played her 50th AFLW match.
We also want to congratulate our VFL men’s team on making the finals again this year and to our netball team who participated in finals earlier this year as well.
We are humbled by the support shown by all members, and it is with thanks to each of you that the Collingwood Football Club can get better on and off the field and across all areas of the Club.
That is across our men’s programs with the AFL and VFL teams, our women’s programs with the AFLW, VFLW and Netball teams – totalling 94 women athletes – our Wheelchair team, Reclink team and wider Collingwood community programs which feed and house thousands of Victorians each week.
Thank you, and as our motto says, may the Magpie flourish.
