Jaimee Lambert will play her 50th AFLW game in our season opener against Carlton on Thursday night.

The 29-year-old became a dual All-Australian last season and the first Collingwood AFLW player to win a third best and fairest award, following consecutive wins in 2019 and 2020.

'Choppy' has an understated approach that belies her status as one of the elite midfielders of the competition.

"It feels really good (to reach 50 games), it's been a long time coming," she said ahead of the milestone.

"I had some injury issues early in my career at the Bulldogs so I didn't get to play to my full potential.

Since she joined Collingwood in 2017, Lambert has collected accolades.

She earned her first All-Australian blazer in 2020 and was named in the extended squad in 2021.

Among the Pies most consistent players, Lambert has improved year-on-year and she credits that to her teammates.

"it always takes a year or two to settle into a new team but by that second season I felt like I was starting to play good football," she said.

"When you're surrounded by good players it makes you play even better.

"I think I've improved because of the talent playing around me.

"I'm very proud of my accomplishments but there's still one yet to come...

"In season seven I'll be hard at the ball, kick some snags, get around the girls and hopefully hold up that premiership cup at the end."
