The Collingwood Wheelchair Seniors faced off against St Kilda during the Round 12 Pride round of the VWFL.
The Pies got off to a fly in the first quarter, banking in the first 4 goals of the game.
Collingwood star tall forward Riley Fitzgerald made his return from injury and immediately impacted the game with 3 of the first 4 goals for the Pies.
Midyear recruit Will Crooks was very dominant down back with his slick ball movement and elite positioning on the court to deny the saints of many chances in front of goal.
Collingwood looked to continue their stretch of goals in the second quarter with Captain Ben Jankovski scoring 3 goals to give the pies a 35-point lead at half-time. It was a tighter second half of the match, St Kilda looked to hold as much possession of the ball as they could of. Martyn Ford played a huge part in the ruck, dominating most taps to Collingwood’s advantage leading towards the forward line.
The goals kept piling on for Collingwood, as they looked to make a big statement in the second last round of the H&A season. In the end, it was a dominant 48-point win for the Collingwood Wheelchair seniors. With one game left before finals, Collingwood will find themselves playing against the Saints in the first elimination final.
It was great to celebrate pride round for the first time in the VWFL.
