Collingwood faces a tough road trip in round ten of the VFL season away at Casey.
The Magpies will be desperate to make amends for last week’s loss to Port Melbourne.
It looked as though the Pies had carried on their strong form from the win against Box Hill when they booted six goals in the opening quarter to build a handy lead.
But despite leading at every change, the Pies suffered a disappointing fadeout as a disastrous final quarter saw them fall by 42 points.
Casey has had a similarly slow start to the season, sitting next to the Pies at 2-6 on the VFL ladder.
The Demons have won just once since round two – an upset win over Essendon at Windy Hill in round six.
Recent high-profile recruits Jake Lever and Steven May each featured last week as they return from injury, but the pair could each be in line for a call up to the Demons’ senior side for their AFL clash with the Pies.
For Collingwood, Tyler Brown and Matthew Scharenberg each made strong returns from injury a week ago against the Borough. Scharenberg especially will look to build further from last week, as he featured for only half the match.
Flynn Appleby is a good chance to return from an ankle injury he picked up in round three against Northern after training strongly in recent weeks.
Mid-season draft pick-up John Noble may also make his debut for the club after another week of acclimatisation.
The Pies will need to fill the void in the senior side left by the injured Dayne Beams, who this week had surgery on a troublesome hip.
In-form midfielders Brayden Sier and Josh Daicos appear most likely to step in for the 2010 premiership star.
Sunday’s match will be broadcast live on Channel 7, with the first bounce at 2.10pm.
