Collingwood forward Sophie Alexander has today informed the club of her decision to explore an opportunity with Essendon’s expansion side for the upcoming AFL Women’s season.
The 28-year-old was part of Collingwood’s inaugural VFLW side before she was elevated to the club’s AFLW list in 2019.
Alexander made 31 AFLW appearances over her four seasons in the black and white booting a total of 16 goals.
Collingwood’s Head of Women’s Football Jess Burger thanked Alexander for her contribution to the club.
“All AFLW clubs have an expectation of player movement this season given the current environment with expansion, so for that reason we understand Soph’s decision to seek a new opportunity elsewhere”, Burger said.
“We thank her for her time at Collingwood and wish her all the best for what’s next.”
