The 2021 Grand Final that never happened was finally played on the weekend. The evenly matched Cats and Pies looked to claim the spot in the top six going into the bye.

Collingwood got off to a great start, leading at the first break. After a few matches with slow starts, this was a positive start the team needed.

Geelong slowly fought their way back and lead at the half time break. Collingwood knew they had a lot of work to do, however, unfortunately Geelong continued their momentum into the third.

Matilda Zander and Nyakoat Dojiok were busy in the forward-line, whilst Joanna Lin and Kara Col-Veel were providing needed speed in the midfield.

Whilst Geelong were having a lot of opportunities down forward, our defence were solid with Katie Lee and Nicole Hales making an impact as best as they could.

The reliable Katie Lee played an outstanding game, awarded as the player of the match. With six intercept possessions and six intercept marks, her ability to read the play is unmatched.

Although it is not the result the team were after, there are still a lot of positives to come out of the match, especially in the first half. Caitlin Bunker making her return to the side was much needed and she again played her role well in the midfield with 17 disposals and four marks.

With the Easter bye this weekend, the team will reset and recover and look to bounce back against Essendon in round nine.
