Collingwood defensive coach, Justin Longmuir has been appointed as Fremantle's new coach.
AFL.com.au has confirmed the former Docker and Collingwood assistant coach will be announced on a three-year deal on Monday.
The Dockers came to the decision late last week and wanted to wait until after the Grand Final to reveal publicly.
The 38-year-old was seen as the early favourite in the hours following Ross Lyon’s sacking last month after the Dockers had monitored his progress for several months.
Longmuir won the job ahead of former Docker and Bomber and current Gold Coast assistant Dean Solomon.
He played 139 games for the Dockers from 1999-2007, retiring as a 26-year-old and turning his hand to coaching.

Longmuir started as a development coach at West Coast in 2010 before stepping up to line coach and was part of the Eagles’ 2015 Grand Final campaign.
Targeted by several clubs at the end of 2017 including Adelaide, he chose to move to Collingwood on a three-year deal ahead of 2018.

Longmuir took charge of the Pies' defence in his first season and had an immediate impact, with Collingwood conceding 13 points fewer a game than in 2017.
Despite a year to run on his contract at the Holden Centre, he goes with the Pies' best wishes.
