Collingwood forward Travis Cloke should have received two more free kicks than he was awarded on Sunday against Richmond.

That's not just the view of his coach, Nathan Buckley, who complained about Cloke's treatment after the Magpies' five-point loss to the Tigers on Sunday. 

It's also the view of the AFL's umpiring boss, Wayne Campbell, who acknowledged on Monday that the Cloke was short-changed against Richmond.

However Campbell said he took Buckley's comments to be directed at the treatment of Cloke more broadly, rather than being specifically related to Sunday's game. 

"Most coaches have a general feel that their power forwards are harshly done by and I think Nathan's comments were a global view on that, as opposed to yesterday," Campbell said. 

"The review showed he should have got two more free kicks in that game… (I'm) happy to clarify that with Nathan when I see him."

Campbell said he was generally happy with the way marking contests were being adjudicated.

He said the umpires had paid two more free kicks in marking contests per game this year compared to last, and contested marks appeared to be on the increase. 

Cloke has conceded 11 free kicks this season. Essendon's Joe Daniher has given away the most, conceding 21 free kicks in seven rounds.

"He dead-set gets nothing from the umps," Buckley said on Sunday.

"I don't know what it is. He gets nothing when it looks like he's being infringed and he only has to sniff to give a free kick away."
