Under Craig McRae Collingwood has started the season 2-0 for the first time in nine years.

"We're really happy with the way the first two weeks have progressed for us," McRae said following our round two win over Adelaide.

"The way we took territory - we won the inside 50 battle and we were really proud of that.

"Our pressure is really strong, that's something we're doing really well.

"Our backs were sensational, they played well as a collective.

"Darcy (Moore) was very composed and his contest in the air was excellent."

Nathan Kreuger kicked two goals in his Collingwood debut but left the field with a shoulder issue late in the match.

Fortuitously, Darcy Cameron had been listed as medical sub.

"Kreugs gives us a bit of spunk, he's 100 percent in everything he does," McRae said.

"We thought we might not have enough height in the game so we said, 'let's just cover that in case one of our keys go down.'

"Funnily enough that did happen late in the game.

"(Mason) Cox was close, he did a little bit of training on Thursday - he's probably another watch and see this week."

An evacuation alarm interrupted the second quarter in a surreal moment that was in complete contrast to scenes at the SCG on Friday night.

"I was calling it the 'reverse Buddy'," McRae said.

"It was quite a strange experience."

Although it's the first time Collingwood has won its first two games of the season since 2013, McRae said the proverbial lid was still firmly in place.

"You can get comfortable (after a couple of wins), I think we're on our journey and we won't be defined by our first six weeks," McRae said.

"Next week (against Geelong) is another opportunity to improve and it will be a challenge."
