Collingwood's AFL squad has commenced a week-long pre-season camp on the Gold Coast.
The players arrived on Sunday, then got down to work with a solid training run at the Southport Sharks' impressive facility on Monday morning.
"As long as I’ve been at the club, it’s been great to get away for a camp to have a change of environment and a bit of bonding," Pies skipper Scott Pendlebury said.
"It’s good to get away and bond over the next week.
"Today we had a little hit out, and I suppose when the training is done it’s about the coffees and the dinners.
"I’m really looking forward to the week."
The players' training load will go up a notch on Wednesday when they are put through another tough session at Southport.
"I personally like coming up here because we’re able to train on the same dimensions (as the MCG)," Pendlebury.
"We had a good hit out today with a fair bit of match simulation. It really ramps up now with round one not far away.
"This camp last year we felt that it set us up really well to attack the season. We’ll look to do that again this year."
The many Pies fans in south-east Queensland are encouraged to come along to Southport and watch the boys get put through their paces on Wednesday.
