We're still buzzing from that great victory on Friday night over the Eagles – one of the best wins in our recent history.
But for the stats-minded among us, one-point wins are always something special. This was just the 30th time in more than 2500 VFL/AFL games that the Pies have snuck home by the narrowest of margins (the most by any club is 34, by the Swans).
It's the third time we've done it against the Eagles, the others coming in 1992 and 2002. And it's our fifth this decade, having already won by similar margins against Melbourne (2010), Essendon (2012, Jarryd Blair), Richmond (2016, "Is it Grundy?... It's Grundy!"), and Sydney (2017). The last three have all come on Friday nights, too.
(On the other side of the ledger, of course, we've also lost by one point 28 times. But we don't like to think about those!)
If you think your heart couldn't take too many more tense finishes like Friday, spare a thought for the poor Collingwood fans of 1916. They had to endure a nerve-shredding stretch that saw the Magpies draw with Fitzroy in round three, defeat Carlton by a point in round five, lose to Richmond by a point in round seven, beat Fitzroy by a point in round nine then lose to Carlton by two points in round 11.
