Collingwood will host Hawthorn in the club's first practice match in February, before meeting Greater Western Sydney at GIANTS Stadium during the 2022 AAMI Community Series on Sunday, March 6.
GIANTS Stadium will host a double-header, with the GWS GIANTS v Collingwood clash at 12:40pm AEDT, followed by Sydney Swans v North Melbourne at 4.20pm AEDT.
AFL Head of Broadcasting and Scheduling Marcus King said the league had opted to continue with the model used in 2021, which sees teams play in a pre-season practice match prior to participating in the AAMI Community Series.
“The decision to proceed with this model was made in consultation with Clubs as we look to safeguard the health and safety of the competition and the community by minimising travel prior to the Toyota AFL Premiership Season," King said.
“The AAMI Community Series plays an important role for both AFL clubs and supporters and we are proud to have AAMI as the naming-rights partner for this upcoming series as we welcome AFL fans back to each venue following an interrupted 2021 season."
