The Collingwood Football Club would like to thank long-standing partner CGU Insurance for its years of support.
As a premier partner of the AFL program and a co-major sponsor of the AFLW program, CGU has shared a wonderful journey with Collingwood that has drawn to a close after 11 years.
The partnership shared in two AFL grand final appearances, in 2011 and 2018, as well as finals campaigns in 2012, 2013, 2019 and 2020.
This year CGU was behind the AFLW side as it played a preliminary final for the first time.
The partnership extended beyond the field of play, with CGU supporting the club’s community initiatives. This included the Magpie Nest program which provides housing solutions and support for people experiencing homelessness, and the Barrawarn program which works to support and create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Collingwood CEO Mark Anderson thanked CGU for its long-term support.
“The club is grateful for the support CGU has given us on and off the field, across both our men’s and women’s football programs,” Anderson said.
“Our shared commitment to this partnership saw it prosper for 11 years. CGU has played an integral role in our achievements over this time, and we thank them for being a part of our club’s journey.”
CGU Insurance Executive General Manager Damien Gallagher said, “over the course of our long partnership we’re pleased to have been a part of some great initiatives, including being the inaugural partner of the AFLW in 2017.
“CGU Insurance is continuing to support the club’s Barrawarn Program until June 2022 through our donation of $500,000 towards initiatives supporting First Nations communities, including a housing program, crisis hotline and youth development service.
“We wish the Club all the best for their future seasons.”
